Dirt of the Week

Posted on 06 August 2008 by admin

Each week MountainBoard.net posts the news and events for the world of mountainboarding. We do our best to stay on top of all that is going on but we can always use help. If you know of an event or other news related issue, or if you have your own local event you’re hosting, email us at Editor@MountainBoard.net.

This weekend, the 9th and 10th, Belgium is throwing down another event at Wanyi Park. Along with the music festival, Wanyi Park will be filling the air with the sounds of true dirt slashing with boarder cross, big air, and a rail jam competition.

You can find more information at www.mountainboard.be.

I know we posted this video the last time there was an event at Wanyi Park but we just can’t seem to tire of watching this guy fall.

Although we love to see this guy slam into the ground over and over again, we should all give him credit for his dedication. He definitely kept at it until he finally nailed it. So we want to thank him not only for the quality entertainment but also for his classic example of the “get back up and ride” attitude that is essential to a true mountainboarder.

If you are “That Guy,” or if you know him, please email us so that we can get in contact with you. We think it would be even more entertaining to get a little background information on him. The search for “That Guy” begins!

Also, MBS just released the results from the 2008 US Open!

Dirt of the Week

Posted on 16 July 2008 by admin

Every Wednesday, MountainBoard.net pulls together the latest mountainboarding news along with any events or competitions that are scheduled for the week. Please submit any news/event related information to Editor@MountainBoard.net, and we will do our best to post them on the appropriate week.

First up is the 2008 AIMA Irish Open Mountain Boarding Championship. This 3 day event is scheduled to begin on Friday, July 18th and roll through to Sunday, July 20th.

The events are open to Irish locals and traveling mountainboarders alike. For more information, check out www.SurfinDirt.co.uk.

Also this week is the grand opening of the new mountainboard park in Winterburg, Germany.

You can find more details on the park on yesterday’s post, “New Park Opening in Winterburg.”You can also check out the main site, www.rockon.de/park/sommer (it’s in German so unless you speak German, you can use a free translator like “google translator” to view more info).

This Weeks Events

Posted on 09 July 2008 by admin

As a new addition to MountainBoard.net, we will be posting information regarding any “mountainboarding news” that takes place within the week. This will post each Wednesday as long as there is news to be posted. So this weeks post covers all mountainboard related news from Wednesday, July 9th to Wednesday July 16th. If you have news you wish to submit for your local area, please submit it to editor@mountainboard.net at least a week in advance so that we can be sure to post it.

This week is pretty quiet as it appears but the next couple of weeks are packed with events and other news so stay tuned for those. For this week the only thing we could find was a Big Air competition in Belgium. The event takes place at Wanyi Park on July 12th and 13th. You can find more information at www.mountainboard.be.

If you are able to attend the event, please share your experience with us via email or in the comments box below. Also, for entertainment purposes only, I have provided a youtube video of a rider attempting a 720 melon at Wanyi Park.

I’m a Laydeeee

Posted on 10 April 2008 by admin

Just dusting down my frock and shaving off the beard so I can attend the ladies only mountain board session I was sent an invitation to, today.

The girlie fest is being organised by Boardology at the Hales Superbole near Chester in the UK. Full details of the event can be seen on their Facebook, but I have reprinted the details here.

This year the 2nd Boardology Mountain Boarding Girlie Camp will be hosted by the fabulous Hales Superbole in Chester and it looks set to be another good one girls!
Hales Superbole is a family run centre that prides itself on a warm and welcoming atmosphere as well as professionalism. They have been selected to host the finals of the ATBA UK Series in August which is an awesome accolade. The centre has also become well known for its ‘Girl Sunday’ riding events which encourage lady riders to enjoy the sport without feeling intimidated by the fellas… So this is where it’s at Chikadees!

The Camp is open to all levels from newbies to advanced riders, so whether you have never set foot on a board before, or you just want to improve on your freestyle without any pressure, this is the best place to do it! Some of the UK’s best female riders will be there guiding you down the hills whether it’s your first session or whether you are already a hot rider.

The camp will be open to ages 10 and up although Under 16s will require adult supervision - what a cool way for moms & daughters to try something new together!

Further updates will be sent out shortly but we would love it if you could drop us an email to tell us you’re keen… The cost of the camp is £75 which will include your board and protection hire, expert tuition from ATBA certified instructors, your tent pitch and a hot shower! Hooray!.

If you are bringing your own equipment then the cost of the camp is £60. We are working on a price for the local pub to cater on site for the weekend so will keep you posted!!!

So, here’s what you do…ring up a few good girlie buddies who don’t mind roughing it a little…pack your tent, some old clothes, and your toothbrush (optional!) and head over to Hales Superbole for a weekend of mountainboarding without the boys!!!

Please email alli [at] boardology co uk for more info or BOOK NOW ONLINE. You can also pay over the phone if you would prefer - just call 01379 652218.

Look forward to seeing you there Boarder Babes!

3000 (Boarders not Spartans)

Posted on 25 March 2008 by admin

Picture this; yours truly the editor of this esteemed publication, rippling torso, a red cloak and some tiny leather shorts, shouting “We are boarders” a la the head of the Spartans in 300.

This very tenuous link brings me to the real aim of the post:

There is a nice little project going on over in Facebookland.   A group has been started called I bet I can find 3000 moutainboarders.  The idea is to try and find out just how many  mountainboarders there are out there.  The admin of the group, Levi, is doing a good job so far.  Why not pay a visit and join group.
If you are visting why not check out our Facebook space.  We are lonely and always want new friends.
